I was looking back on some videos I took of you at the newborn stage. It's amazing how much you've changed.
5 weeks old: at this stage you still weren't able to hold your head up, focus your eyes or control your hands. You were already talkative though!
7 weeks old: singing and laughing, one of my favourite videos of you:
9 weeks old: Daddy thought it would be funny to tickle your nose. I must admit, it was pretty funny.

From the archives: Daddy playing with you at 7 weeks old
This is Daddy's version of playing with you when you were 7 weeks old. I can't believe how much you've fattened up since then. I love looking at these old videos of you. It's hard to believe you were so small (and quiet!) haha

Week 24 photostory: Graduating to your new crib
You finally outgrew the little bassinet that you've been sleeping in since we brought you home from the hospital. You've been sleeping in your new crib since Sunday. I thought it might take a while for you to get used to your bigger crib but you slept soundly on Sunday night and on Monday morning, you didn't even call out to me when you woke up. I could see you awake in your crib, just looking around at your new surroundings and playing with the little chime I put up on your crib. You must love being able to stretch out and not hit your arms against the wall.
You must really love the crib because you slept for 8 hours straight last night and you took 2 naps in it today! These are such huge milestones, especially napping during the day because you've always needed me to sleep right next to you during your naps. I decided to do some nap training with you today. I tried it last week and you cried and refused to sleep in the bassinet. Today I put you in the crib while you were still awake and you fell asleep on your own.
Here you are having your nap after playing with petite Sophie and using the lovely blanket - both gifts from Cousin Lan in America.
Here is a pic taken after Daddy put the crib together on Sunday, look how much space you have to roll around!

From the archives: Our little Superman almost 5 weeks old
Here is a video taken when you were almost 5 weeks old. You had such skinny arms and legs and your eyes were still unfocused. At 4 months old now, you're a little chubster and much more coordinated. You loved doing the Superman pose as a newborn, you can see it in the video. I'm sad you don't do it anymore, just goes to show I have to take lots of photos and videos because you're growing up so fast.

From the archives: My sleepy little monkey - 2.5 days & 5 days old
These are 2 of the very first videos I took of you in the hospital!
From the archives: Our little poser at 10 days old
You are such an expressive newborn, especially with your hands. There is photographic evidence in this post and now I have video evidence! I captured this when you were 10 days old. Daddy had just changed your poopy nappy and had come downstairs. Within minutes, you did another poop! This explains our laughing and background commentary. I know it was only a month or so ago but I'm so glad you've advanced from that newborn stage of doing poops every couple hours (or in this case, couple of minutes!)

From the archives: Tummy time at 11 days old
I've taken so many photos and videos of you that it's time to start categorising them (yes, your Mummy is a bit of a dork). I've been finding lots of old videos from the early days that haven't been uploaded.
Right now you're only 14 weeks old, so even the oldest videos are only a few months old but my goodness, how much you've changed in that time! It's amazing. Here is a video I took of you and Daddy while we were giving you tummy time at 11 days old. You had a full day already with the newborn photography shoot that morning, so I'm surprised how alert you look. You're also surprisingly strong to be be pushing your legs off Daddy's hands. You had such skinny chicken legs when you were born. It's gratifying to know you've fattened up so much since then :)
Just to show how much you've fattened up, here are some photos of you at 14 weeks old:

Your first month
Hi Lucas,
I can't believe it's been 1 month and 2 days since we first welcomed you into the world. Time is flying by and each day I notice your little personality peeking through and changes to your features. I want to capture these early newborn moments as I know how fleeting it is.

Week 1 - your homecoming and photo shoot
Hi baby,
Your dad will tell you that I'm a bit obsessed with taking photos. It's no surprise then that my son would have a well-documented life with lots of videos and photos. Lucky for us, you're a natural poser with very expressive hands that often send Daddy and I into fits of laughter as you look like you are deliberately posing. Don't believe me? Have a look at these photos:

Our hospital stay
Hello Lucas,
We spent 5 nights at the Mater hospital after you were born, it was such a great place for me and Daddy to learn the basics on how to look after you. Considering Daddy had never held a baby before, there was a lot to learn! Surprisingly, Daddy picked up all the skills very quickly. Actually for the first few days, Daddy changed all your nappies and gave you your first bath. I was still recovering from the caesarian section and couldn't get out of bed easily.
Here are some photos of Daddy in action:

Our labour story
Hello Lucas,
Here is the story of how you came into this world. It's a story that was a lot more dramatic than we would have liked, or even expected, but the important thing is we were both fine after the labour. So now that I have assured you, here is the course of events while it is still fresh in my mind.
Mummy's water broke on Sunday afternoon on February 17th but I wasn't really sure it was my water breaking because it was just a trickle. Daddy and I had dinner at Five Dock with your Grandparents, Mandy and Trevor. Our last meal with you still in my belly was a yummy seafood feast :)
That night I couldn't get to sleep. I kept waking up checking if more of my water was breaking and wondering whether every twinge I felt were contractions. Luckily I was able to pass the time playing a silly game called Candy Crush (that incidentally, both Daddy and Auntie Mandy were also addicted to!). I drifted in and out of sleep and woke up at 5am to a huge gush of water breaking. I knew that I had to call the hospital but it was still too early, so I waited til 7am before calling the Mater. At this time, I still didn't feel any regular contractions. When I called the hospital, I was expecting the midwife to say we should wait a bit longer until I felt regular contractions. Instead, the midwife told me we had to get to the hospital right away due to the risk of infection since my water had broken yesterday afternoon. I went upstairs to wake Daddy up and have never seen Daddy jump out of bed so quickly!
