Week 27: Gurgling video and summer outfit

You started making gurgling sounds this morning, sometimes it sounded like you were singing! You had a lot of fun experimenting with these new sounds.

These are the first photos I've taken of you sitting on the bed. You look so grown up! Daddy said I should spike your hair up instead of parting it to the side.  I must have parted it by accident after I washed your face this morning. Your hair hasn't grown much these past 6 months...I wonder when you'll need your first haircut? :)

Grandma and I took you out for a trip to the city yesterday. The weather is getting warm so we dressed you in these cute short overalls and deck shoes. Check out those chunky legs! haha

Week 27: My boisterous little boy

You wake up at 7am every morning like clockwork. And you're always so full of energy! Here is a video from this morning of you being really loud and boisterous. It's so cute how you still marvel at your little hands in between your giggles and shrieks.

A couple of photos with Daddy cuddling you in the morning before he got ready for work:

Some photos from yesterday morning. You still love to do the happy baby pose whenever you are lying down.

From the archives: Daddy playing with you at 7 weeks old

This is Daddy's version of playing with you when you were 7 weeks old. I can't believe how much you've fattened up since then.  I love looking at these old videos of you. It's hard to believe you were so small (and quiet!) haha

Week 27 milestone: Sitting up by yourself

You sat up all by yourself today! I put lots of blankets and pillow around you, just in case you fell backwards but you stayed upright for a long period of time. I was so proud of you! I think giving you a new toy to play with was a great motivator :)

Week 27 video: Feeding yourself

I've worked out how you will actually eat your solids! You'll finish the sweet potato if you can feed yourself. I tried it with this new contraption and you were giggling and laughing away. Here's the video:

Week 26: Trying papaya and weekly round-up

I was cutting up some papaya this morning and thought I would mash some up for you to try. Here's a video of you trying papaya for the very first time. It was quite funny because after a few mouthfuls, you refused to open you mouth to eat any more! Such a stubborn boy!

What are you feeding me, Daddy?

No more, Daddy!
Here's a round up of photos from this week:

Week 26 photo story: Bubbles

At our baby class on Friday, we were all given a bottle of bubbles to take home. This morning, Daddy decided to blow some bubbles with you, much to your delight.

Week 26: Giggles and sweet potato

Here's a video of me playing with you this morning. I love hearing you giggling and laughing! Your eye still looks a bit red but it is getting better. Still makes me sad seeing your eye watering with all that goop, though I think I'm more bothered by it than you are.

I fed you sweet potato yesterday afternoon but you wanted a nap and only took a few bites before you started complaining. I couldn't resist taking a few photos of you looking unhappy because it still looks adorable :)

Week 26 video: Sweet potato

You tried sweet potato puree for the first time yesterday. It was a new experience as the texture and taste is quite different to the runny rice cereal you had for the last few days. You tasted the puree and then kept spitting it out...and then you started playing by blowing bubbles with your food...haha

Here's the video:

Grandma only fed you a few spoonfuls and by the look on your face...I think we need to give you more practise eating veges!

Week 26 video: Your first teething rusk

You tried a teething rusk for the first time yesterday. It was so funny watching your expression when you tasted the banana flavour for the first time. Your whole upper body did a little shake, as though you were shocked by the taste.  I wish I captured that first strong reaction on video! Nevertheless, here is a short video of you eating the rusk, you can still see your changing facial expressions as you got used to the taste.

You had sweet potato for the first time tonight. I took a video of it and will upload tomorrow. Here is a sneak peek of the face you made when you tried the puree:

Week 26 video: Fascinated by your hand

I've noticed you staring at your hands with lots of interest these days. You look at your wiggling fingers with such amazement. After I finished feeding you this morning, you were chatting and laughing away. I decided to take a video and managed to also capture you marveling at your fingers. I'm so glad I got this on video, it's so sweet to see the fascinated expression on your face.

You scratched your left eyelid yesterday so it looks a bit swollen this morning. Unfortunately with the cold weather, your eye is a bit sticky with green mucus as well.  I've asked many nurses and doctors and they say it's due to a blocked tear duct, which is quite common in babies. The tear duct should unblock itself with time. All I can do is keep massaging the duct and wiping your eye with warm water. Hopefully your eye will get better soon.

6 month sticker photos and video

Happy half-birthday, my sweet. What a busy day for you, starting solids and starring in another photo session :)

I can't believe you're 6 months old already - you've grown so much! You've started rolling from your back to your tummy, reaching for your toes, grabbing on to things and eating from a spoon.

You're such a joy to be around, always smiling and laughing. Mummy and Daddy are so lucky to have you.

Here's your 6-month video, you tried to grab the puppy and your toes at the same time!

6 months photo story and video - Starting solids

We fed you rice cereal for the first time mixed with Mummy's milk. At first, you seemed a bit uncertain about this novel way of eating. More cereal ended up on your bib than in your mouth. Below is a photo story and also 2 videos.

6 months - funny photo sequence

We started eating solids today but before I put lots of videos and photos up, I'll put up this funny action sequence:

Week 25: Family photo session

We spent a few hours yesterday doing a family photo session with the photographer, Leah Kua. The location was where Mummy and Daddy got married a couple years ago at Woolwich Dock. We were so lucky with the beautiful weather and quite by accident, there was an art exhibition showing there as well. I think we got some very cool and unique photos with the sculptures as props!

Leah was very patient and relaxing to take photos with, which was important as you were curious about everything! You were constantly distracted by the people walking by, the water, the sun, anything really! I hope she got lots of shots of your big, wide smile.

Mummy had a mini-fashion show to choose what you should wear on the photo shoot earlier in the week. I sent photos and your Aunties voted on the outfit they liked. This was taken after the fashion show - look at all the outfits I tried on you!

We unanimously chose this stripey top and white overalls, it was so simple and timeless:

Week 25: Reaching for your toes

All day you were reaching for your toes! And you looked so happy whenever you were able to grab them. I love your smiles!

Here are some more photos from today:

Week 25 milestone: Happy baby pose

You've been doing the "happy baby" pose for a few days now whenever I change your nappy but today I noticed you doing it while lying in bed. You looked so proud of yourself at being able to touch your toes! Here's a first video of your happy baby pose and some photos.

Week 25 - Playtime

It's been a while since the last update due to technical difficulties. I thought I lost all my photos of you on the weekend! Luckily I was able to recover my photos and videos. I was so upset when I thought all those precious memories were lost. I am diligently backing everything up now!

So here are a couple of videos of you playing on the bouncer and play gym. You can see a huge difference in how much more control you have now. You also love watching the TV. I'm trying to limit the time you are in front of the TV but sometimes it's just nice to get a few minutes to myself. Your favourite tv show is Bananas in Pyjamas and Peppa Pig. Here is a video of you watching Peppa Pig.

And here is a video I just took of you on the play gym. Look at your legs powering away! You have very strong legs for your age, though you still have to work on your upper body strength because you hate tummy time.

At baby class on Friday, you once again decided to lay down rather than do tummy time. So the teacher suggested I use a rolled up towel under your tummy to help you do push ups. It seems to be helping!

Week 24: Our little chickadee

Aunty Huong in the US knit some really cute clothes and blankets for you before you were born. Here is a video and lots of photos of you looking adorable in the chickadee outfit!

Week 24 photostory: Graduating to your new crib

You finally outgrew the little bassinet that you've been sleeping in since we brought you home from the hospital. You've been sleeping in your new crib since Sunday. I thought it might take a while for you to get used to your bigger crib but you slept soundly on Sunday night and on Monday morning, you didn't even call out to me when you woke up. I could see you awake in your crib, just looking around at your new surroundings and playing with the little chime I put up on your crib.  You must love being able to stretch out and not hit your arms against the wall.

You must really love the crib because you slept for 8 hours straight last night and you took 2 naps in it today! These are such huge milestones, especially napping during the day because you've always needed me to sleep right next to you during your naps. I decided to do some nap training with you today. I tried it last week and you cried and refused to sleep in the bassinet. Today I put you in the crib while you were still awake and you fell asleep on your own.

Here you are having your nap after playing with petite Sophie and using the lovely blanket - both gifts from Cousin Lan in America.

Here is a pic taken after Daddy put the crib together on Sunday, look how much space you have to roll around!

Week 23 videos: Peekaboo with Lucas and saying "Mum"

You love playing peekaboo with Aunty Mandy! You've also started making a funny grunting noise, you can hear it in the video. I've noticed you doing this when you're feeding as well. I wonder what it means?

Another video taken last night of you saying "mum mum"!!! Is this your first word? :)

Week 23 photostory: Going out for brunch

We went out this morning to a local French cafe for brunch with Aunty Kathy. You were in such a happy mood; laughing and smiling throughout the lunch. We're so lucky you're such an easy baby to take around. You are happy to play and let anyone hold you and best of all, you reward everyone with your big, gummy smile! No wonder everyone loves to hang out with you!

Here are some photos in the cafe, and a video of you laughing with Aunty Kathy.

Week 22 and 23 Round-up

For the past few months, our weekend routine has been going househunting on Sat and then having family time on Sunday. Here are some photos from last weekend when we went to the Bay Run. Mummy and Daddy used to go running around the bay a long time ago, so that place holds a special significance for us.

It was so cute dressing you up in a little cap and overalls. Your Auntie Katrina said you resembled Russell from the movie Up!
